They mainly grow tomatoes and other summer vegetables at their farm located 800 meters above sea level at the foot of Mt. Norikura, Hida Takayama. They greatly respect and appreciate the beautiful scenery and natural resources, such as good water and rich soil.
Their goal is to recycle as much as they possibly can while farming. They recycle the grass used on the thatched rooves of Japanese-style houses—which are designated as Japanese cultural properties—and use it to make compost to prepare the soil for planting. They also use subsoil water from Mt. Norikura.
They harvest tomatoes during short summer season lasting three months. The temperature difference between mornings and evenings makes their tomatoes delicious and juicy. They grow three different sized tomatoes: mini, medium and large. In order to utilize all parts of the tomatoes, they manufacture products such as tomato juice. They puree the tomatoes at their own processing factory and sell them. By offering the use of the factory to other farmers, they contribute to the reduction of industrial food waste. People in Takayama have been enjoying an affluent lifestyle since ancient times, and there are many traditional cultures. This is due to the rich natural resources in the area. They want to take advantage of these benefits and grow plenty of delicious vegetables. They want to bring smiles to their customers’ faces which will allow them and future generations to enjoy an affluent life as well.
